It was a perfectly normal end to the day when Michael saw his father, Charles, taking off his shoes. His feet were swollen, his ankles heavy – after decades of manual labour, Charles’s body was paying the price.

'The worst part of it all is the swelling,' Charles sighed. 'In the morning my shoes still fit, but by the evening I can barely get them on. And then, at night, come these cramps...' He had already tried everything: compression socks, tablets, legs up, ointments. However, nothing brought lasting improvement.

Michael remembered his grandmother’s stories, who used to rely on cold salt-water baths for swollen legs – alternating baths, heat, and gentle pressure. 'That used to work,' Charles often said. 'But who does that nowadays?'

This question wouldn't leave Michael's mind. Together with Dr Mark Coast, an orthopaedic surgeon and childhood family friend, he began to devise a solution: how to apply these ancient principles in a modern device that anyone could use at home?

After many prototypes, the goal was achieved. Thus, Relief Health was born.
